Spring & Summer
Head into the Great Outdoors . . .
For many New Jerseyans, the arrival of warm weather means it’s time to dust off the hiking boots and lather on the sunscreen. Nature beckons, and nowhere is the call more enticing than right here in New Jersey’s state parks, forests and historic sites.
Our state parks are home to sandy beaches, expansive forests and adventure-filled trails that meander through mountains and valleys. Whatever your pleasure, the state’s parks offer endless opportunities to enjoy fishing, swimming, hiking, boating, camping or touring fascinating historic sites and lighthouses. You don’t have to travel far; you’ll find it all within a short drive from your home.
Spending time outdoors is great for your heart, your lungs and your overall health. New Jersey’s state parks provide the perfect setting for you to enjoy daily exercise. Miles of multi-use trails are accessible for brisk walks, hiking or bicycling. Walk-a-thons, nature walks, races and canoe trips are merely a highlight of the organized activities and events that are offered this time of year.
The special events listed in this calendar are the perfect way to experience an assortment of outdoor recreational and educational opportunities. Our state parks, forests and historic sites host everything from nature and historic programs, to history reenactments, open-air theater productions, gardening workshops and festivals.
Whether traveling from near or far, New Jersey offers a great base from which you can explore a surprising range of recreational opportunities. I encourage you to get outdoors this spring and summer and enjoy the magnificent landscapes of our state parks and the many healthy benefits of outdoor recreation available right here in New Jersey.
Sincerely,
Jon S. Corzine
