Re-enactors—the folks that time-travel to the 18th century to make possible Revolutionary War living history.

Barney & Company F, Royal Artillery
(2009, Gina Provenzano)
June 18-19, 2011, over 200 re-enactors from the Eastern United States will come to Monmouth Battlefield to commemorate the 233rd anniversary of one of the largest battles of the American Revolution. All are members of recreated Revolutionary military units. They are highly trained, carry modern insurance policies, and belong to one of three re-enactor umbrella organizations: the British Brigade, the Continental Line, and the Brigade of the American Revolution. To ensure safety, only members of one of these three umbrella organizations are allowed to participate. The re-enactor units hosting this year’s event are the 4th Continental Artillery and King George's 1st New Jersey Volunteers, a Loyalist unit originally raised largely in Monmouth County..
Straw, firewood, and potable water will be provided for re-enactors. The Friends of Monmouth Battlefield will reimburse artillery companies fielding 3-pounder or larger field pieces $100 for powder expended. Re-enactors bringing horses for the weekend will be reimbursed $50 for their travel expense. Reimbursement checks should be collected at the gift shop Sunday morning between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.
Hay will be provided for our four-footed friends.
