Tales from the Morris Canal

Description: 2-mile round-trip walk to pick up litter along rural roadway thru park

Friday Night with Lights
Wawayanda State Park, Boathouse parking lot

Description: Friday night hike 2.5-3 miles with a campfire that follows
Age: Adults and Children 5 and older. $8 adult, $5 children
Please call (973) 853-4462. Bring head lamp or flashlight, wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Bring chairs and snacks for the campfire.


Caven Point Beach Walk
Liberty State Park, 300 Morris Pesin Drive

Description: Guided walk to the beach and exploration of the shoreline.
Ages: all ages

Dress for the weather, wear shoes that can get wet and muddy, bring sunscreen, water, and insect repellent. The walk to the beach is approximately a mile and a half.


The Christmas Night Crossing

Description: Using diaries and letters of the participants, Resource Interpretive Specialist Clay Craighead will give a lecture on the significance of the Christmas Night Crossing and the Battle of Trenton.

Queen’s College by Candlelight

Description: 250 years ago, Old Dutch Parsonage's Frederick Frelinghuysen offered the first tutorials for Queen's College at the Sign of the Red Lion Tavern in New Brunswick, launching a tradition of teaching that continues two and a half centuries later at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. As the sun sets tour Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage to learn about the early history of Queen's College, the first tutorials at the Sign of the Red Lion, and the metaphor of Enlightenment and practice of illumination in eighteenth-century New Jersey.

Description: 5.5-6 Mile Dog Hike for experienced walkers.
Age: ages 10 and up.
