Description: Explore the mountaintop on your own with a family-friendly scavenger hunt while the sun sets and the moon rises and/or join the park naturalist for an informal talk about the history and natural history of the mountain while enjoying the view.

Hawk Watching
High Point State Park, Monument Trail Parking
19-Sept 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:30 to 3:30 PM
Description: Stop by any time between 11:00 AM  to 12:00 PM or 1:30 to 3:30 PM, borrow a pair of binoculars (or bring your own!), and join the park naturalist watching for migrating raptors soaring along the Kittatinny Ridge and learn about their annual journey.

This should be close to the peak of the Broad-winged hawk migration, but weather conditions and the timing of this year’s migration will determine how many (if any) raptors will be on the move. Park in the Monument Trail parking lot, and look for signs pointing to the hawk watch. Rain or fog will cancel this program.

Description: Join us for a fun and informal 1.5-mile walk around Sawmill Lake in search many different types of seeds, including seeds that roll, stick, and explode!

Tutors & Taverns: 250 Years of Teaching at Rutgers
Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage State Historic Site

Description: Academic instruction at Rutgers began 250 years when Old Dutch Parsonage's Frederick Frelinghuysen offered the first tutorials for Queen's College at the Sign of the Red Lion Tavern in New Brunswick in November 1771. Special historic houses tours explore the Dutch roots of the State University of New Jersey at Old Dutch Parsonage and New Jersey's early leadership in American higher education at Wallace House. On Sunday visit our "Sign of the Red Lion" Interpretive Center for “The Lure and Lore of Liquor: Tavern Beverages of the American Revolution" with historian and mixologist David Emerson.
